This is the spreadsheet that we built, initially for our own use in recording trades, to maximise our profitability and understand where we can improve (and also because we’re Excel geeks). Due to popular demand, we’re making it available to everyone.
While a lot of the Trades sheet will sort itself out, you’ll need to fill in:
- Match details: date, fixture, player and team
- Entry details: buy/sell, price, and units
- Exit details: exit, close out value and payout
- Optional notes on what you’ve done well/badly
The rest will work itself out. The P&L figure takes the 4% commission on profitable trades into account.
The Charts sheet is there to track your account value etc over time. You only need to put your relevant information in the account box at the top and rows 7 and 8 of the main table. From there, you just need to copy the formulae down day by day from row 8.
There are a few example trades in the Trades sheet to show what the workbook can do, and these will feed through to the Charts sheet. Deleting these to enter your own trades should not cause any issues!
To copy the formulae down, highlight cells in row 10, then you can use the square at the bottom left of the far left cell to copy the formulae down, as far as you like.
The download link is below – the sheet is designed to work best with Windows and Google sheets.
