The Numbers 20/21: Gameweek 6

Gameweek 6 in the Premier League didn’t offer the same excitement that we have grown used to in the early part of this season. Leeds were the only team to score three goals, although their 3-0 win at Villa Park could’ve easily ended 5-4. Patrick Bamford (88p) registered his first Premier League hat-trick to continue his excellent start to the season, and so he leads the line for our team of the week. Trezeguet (12p) was an unfortunate punchbag for Leeds, registering a base payout of -4p starting on Villa’s right-hand side.

There were few other monster scores, but the usual names underperforming does lend itself to a bit of variety that we don’t always have the opportunity to present. Bamford is one of FOUR ex or current Crystal Palace players in this week’s lineup, which will probably never be surpassed. Wilfried Zaha (69p) scored and assisted as Palace travelled to Craven Cottage, with Jairo Riedewald (62p) growing into his role and scoring the opening goal. Southampton were excellent as they hosted Everton, with Danny Ings (69p) laying on two goals – James Ward-Prowse (70p) was on the receiving end of one of these well-placed passes. Lucas Digne (10p) was shown red just as Everton were building some momentum. Lukasz Fabianski (72p) deserves a mention in goal, as his performance helped to earn West Ham a 1-1 draw at home to Man City, where Joao Cancelo (63p) assisted the away side’s goal.

As a bonus this week we have included a three-man subs bench. Phil Foden (44p) was brought on at half time and quickly drew City level at the London Stadium. Jamie Vardy (38p) was similarly effective for Leicester as he scored the only goal late on in the Foxes’ trip to Arsenal. Aboubakar Kamara (-7p) had an uneventful substitute appearance against Palace until he was shown a late red card, earning himself a base payout of -17p.
